Welcome March!

I went out the other day to look after lynxtracks on the north side of the hill we hunt, that place was the only with some snow left after the latest weeks of warm weather. I´ve been out for one lynxhunt we were 14 guys out there, 7 of us pushed through the wood bush by bush but nothing came out at the 7 shooters end of the wood. As for the lack of snow in this region dont think there´ll be any moore tries to go after them, only if we get some good tracking snow but at the looks of the weather today im doubting.......
Foxcalling then? well to be honest i´ve been on the lazy edge of hunting, i have been busy looking for a new job, meeting up with old friends and all the other no good reasons to stay home from the hunt hahahaha! No guys i have to make a go for it this week, the winds have been petty strong for about two weeks now so im waiting for some calm weather to call in. You could alllways send me a pic or a story of your own to the mailbox dalahunter@live.se thanks for visiting.

Hunting with birds?

It´s a really special way to hunt using birds of prey, i know in some countries here in Europe it´s allowed to use Falcons for Rabbit hunting. This clip though i think they´ve taken it a bit too far when hunting Roedeer with what looks to me as an Eagle. I came across this clip this morning and im not sure were it´s taken probably somewhere here in Europe as im pretty sure it´s an European Roedeer thats targeted. (This page turns to hunters but for those of you who dont like animals getting killed dont press play in this window.)

First "Red" after homecoming.

My first stand of the day delivered three "Reds" after 20 minutes, got a shot on two but one just slipped back into the den and got just out of reach for me., and the third got second thoughts when he heard the two shots fired and turned to the bush again. I settled just before sunrise and started off with a jackrabbit distress from Rudy "the stone coyote calls" and tried a few different ones on my lanyard and nothing happend.
After 25 minutes or so i thought of giving up but i tried for the last time and decided to take a call that reaches out a bit longer so i blew my latest toy the "Cow tip call" from Tony Tebbe and suddenly two ears appeared on a small hill in the middle of the field.
I gave the call a few more blows and suddenly there were two foxes comin straight at me, a took out the "TSCC" jackrabbit again and then they got in real close but as a said the first got a bad hit and ran back to its den, but the second one dropped right were it stood. The third one ran off when he realised what was going on so i still have him to trick this weekend....
I didnt get hold of a dog to drag the fox out of the den, too bad he had a real nice pelt who would have fit on the wall here next to the others.

Got the new bullets.

Got home a hundred of these babies the other week, thay are to be loaded after this season and used for next years foxhunts, can´t wait to get them ready....

Pictures of the end result will be posted here later on this spring/summer....
Wish me luck!!!

Broke the 2000!

Hi everyone! Today my little diary of hunting broke the 2000 visitor barrier, just as it´s about to turn 1 year. I hope that you guys who visit this little place on the world wide web find some of my hunting stories and pictures interesting, i dont put much energy in hunting big or rare animals as it´s the experience in hunting itself that keeps me going.

The hunt for predators continue as im now moving back to my town of birth were i have my own hunting grounds and only have hunted occationally in the last 5 years now, im sure this will feed my site with more interesting stories and pictures. Im going to concentrate more in the predator hunting this year just to try and inspire all you guys in keeping their number short to benefit the populations of the other game species, i´d also like to thank all of you guys out there especially the American predator hunters at http://www.predatormastersforums.com/ for tips and advices.

Also you guys that have provided me with calls to use when hunting predators:

First my friend Rudy Calderone "The stone coyote" thanks buddy!!

Rich Cronk "Cronk calls" for my first call ever...

Tony Tebbe "Tebbes outdoor production" for tips in the art of call making...

P-A Åhlén "Nordik Predator" for my first Swedish open reed call...
