First fox of the season

Finally i got out calling fox, the rabbit in the pic turned up just before the fox and ás it is good eating i had no reason to let him pass.
You can also see my new rig, it´s a lanyard from Stone Coyote Calls (Thanks Rudy) with a close reed call from the same manufactor, it also has a Cronk killer on there together with my own Mooseantler distress and a Roedeer Blattercall.
Now im pretty eager to get out there again but i wont be out for another two weeks when im going home for my birthday the 18th of September, then i have taken a week off from work in October for the annual Moosehunt........Keep up the hunting everyone!

Got my new gun ready!

Got the new gun ready for the season
it´s a Husqvarna .222 that i think will
be a little bit gentler to the hides on the foxes.
When i got it it had the same color
as the table it´s on, i sanded it and
put some color to the stock. I also
mounted a Meopta 7x50 the only
thing left is a Harris bipod the im good to go.

Made some calls to....

I made five distress calls out of the Moose antler i brought to the workshop in the summerhouse, the toneboards are from KO-predator solutions (Thanks Mr.Loren Reese for shipping Sweden!) and they have a great sound.

I actually called in a "Red" one night he came straight at me with a large rat in his mouth and stopped 5-6 yards away didnt see me and wind in his back he wouldn´t stood a chance if the season weren´t off hehehe.

The call in the upper pic has some tracks burned into the edges from Moose and Fox thought it would be a nice touch.....

Got a Common Pheasant!

The only game i shot during my three weeks in our summerhouse, a common Pheasant i cant wait to taste it as i´ve heard it has a great taste i dont know myself as it is my first.
I saw him coming across the yard when i was in the toilet taking a leak i finished fast and went for my .22, one shot later this picture was taken........ the tailfeathers are to be set up as trophy on woodplate i will add that picture later.

A good friend is gone.

Two days before we were going to our summer house i had to put down my dear huntingbuddy and familymember "Jesper" i´ve had him for three years trying to get his anger problems solved. He was a dog that was given to me and my wife by another family and it later turned out the the man in the family had beaten this dog since he was a pup, that explained some of the behavior that i was trying to help him from. He was an excellent dog when it came to drive Roedeer, fox and rabbit but when he started to bite me and my wife for no reason this spring we feared that he would go for our 8 month daughter, so when he attacked me really bad two days before our holiday trip to the summerhouse we had him put to sleep.
I´m proud to say that he had his absolute best time living three years with us and we tried so hard to reraise him but he could never trust a human after the childhood he had............

Rest in peace Jesper i will always remember you!

They are close now!

This picture was taken by a friends brother when they were out looking for Wolves outside the village Edsbyn in Sweden a village with big Wolf problems. It has actually gone so far that the people in the outskirts dont spend time in the outdoors anymore, and hunters have lost there dogs and game.
He sent me this picture yesterday and he told me that this lone wolf were walking side by side with a Bear that ran off the second he saw the car, the Wolf stayed for a closer look and gave the guys a chance to catch him on picture.
Later the same day the brothers were up on a hillside howling and they got answer from the pack that lives in the area and got them into what they think was app. 200 meters, a pretty magic moment i was told.
The Swedish Wolf is on the endangered list an the numbers of Wolves are barley 150 after the last cubs been born, soon enough as the numbers reach above 200 the goverment has said that controlled hunts will be discussed.
It would be awsome to go up there and try some calling just for photo, i hope it becomes reality it would certainly be a thrill.

Thanks Jens and Joacim Törnberg for the great photo!!!
