More October fur!!

More "Reds" taken during the hunting week in October back in Dalarna, i´ll be hunting home in Hälsingland for a few weekends now as i´ve been having called fox too hard in Dalarna and i must give the area a rest until first snow. I were out with my friend Raimo today and called for "Reds" but the wind turned into almost storm so the Foxes weren´t above ground, better luck this weekend i hope as we are heading for the city dump on Friday night and some farmland on Saturday morning.

Much in 10 days

Ok now its been ten days since the last post, and in that time i have been hunting both Moose as you can see and some "Reds".
We start of with the Moose hunt wich took place on Saturday and Sunday of last week were we had a slow start and even a slower day with no Moose in the hunting area.
We took out plan B and headed for some densed vegitation on the oppsit side of were we usually hunt, were i and two other guys started tracking for Moose we saw som pretty good tracks and within minutes from that we saw a female with two calves.
Somehow they slipped trough our fenceline of shooters and just .....up in smoke no tracks no nothing. When we decided to call it a day we heard on the radio that the neighbouring crew had wounded a single female Moose and she were heading our way, a few of us went to the area were she was last seen by a guy tracking with dog, there a friend also named Fredrik shot the Moose in some 15 minutes after our arrival.(See pic above) I had my usual stand on this hunt were the view of the sun rising was the only satisfaction i had of sitting there for 5 hours (See lower pic)(And pic posted in January). So now we wait until the snow falls then we start all over again tracking and hunting Moose "King of the Swedish woods"

Another Red

I went to the stand on Sunday and got this "Red", it felt really nice as i missed two on the first stand of the day. I still have the problem of staying calm and aim concentrated it´s my "akilles heel", it takes one or two misses before i concentrate and get things right. Going back to the same area on Wednesday morning and im staying at my parents for a week hunting "Reds" and Moose. The fox on the pic almost came into shotgun range but got distracted by a field mouse and i had to stalk him as he chased the mouse around a little grassy field and i ended the chase with my .222 instead of the shotgun. Well i hope i have some more stories to tell after the week at my parents i´ll keep you posted.

The Black Grouse

Nice colors of the Swedish fall, Pinetrees mixed with all the leaftrees makes a nice palette.
In this pic Pejo is standing right were i shot the Black grouse it was resting in the pine marked with the red ring laser ranged to 196 yards.

Me and my friend Pejo headed north on Wednesday morning for some Capercaille and Black Grouse hunting, we had a nice day even though the dog Miska didn´t get the birds to sit long enough for us to stalk them. Instead we hunted for resting birds in the treetops wich was really fun, im a little ashamed to tell that i had a low accuracy for the day with four shots fired and only one Black Grouse on the ground. But now i know my rifle even better (my new .222) as we had a hard time getting close to the birds sitting in the single trees left on the clearing made by the logging company. First shot was a beginners mistake as i didn´t catch my breath before shooting and a miss at 110 yards, second and third shot was made at 274 yards also missed and was by far the longest shots i ever done on a grouse(bird didnt budge until two shots were fired then it flew off). The fourth shot for the day hit dead center at 196 yards and a Black Grouse was in the bag (Phew!!) it´s not shown very well in the pic but it´s hanging from my backpack, i was pleased cause overall that day i saw more grouse than ever before and we are going back there after the Moose hunt wich starts next week.
